MACA LOVER SET: Combination of organic raw red maca powder and organic raw black maca powder

Red Maca powder comes from pink or light red skin coloured Maca roots. Among the rarest of all colours of Maca root, Red Maca has been prized for over 2000 years. Most people find the taste of Red Maca to be sweeter, more gentle and more mild. A study on Red Maca published in the Journal Reproductive Biology and Endocrinology 2005; 3:5. indicated 8 medical researchers reported that over the course of 42 days: “Red Maca but neither Yellow/Cream nor Black Maca reduced significantly ventral prostate size in rats.“    In 2010 researchers from the Universidad Peruana, Lima published a study on the effects of Maca on bone structure in rats that had their ovaries removed.  The study concluded that both Red and Black Maca supported bone strength and density among the test subjects. Red Maca powder has been shown, under phytonutrient analysis, to be higher in certain compounds that support the body in antioxidant and anti-tumoral activity.

Black Maca powder is made from light to dark grey skin colour Maca roots. Black maca roots are the rarest of all Maca colours, accounting for less than 20% of the annual harvest. Their distinctive skin color is a result of the soil conditions and climactic conditions in which they are grown.

Several research studies have shown that Black Maca has unique properties. A Swiss study from 2010 showed Black Maca to excel at protecting bone structure and preventing osteoporosis. 2 studies from China in 2006 and 2011 found Black Maca to be superior for increasing memory, concentration and learning skills. A UK study from 2011 found that Black Maca supported the most rapid muscle growth and endurance of all varieties of Maca. Black maca contain a higher concentration of proteins, fibre, selenium and bioactive substances, such as the glucosinolates, in a higher concentration than the other ecotypes.
